What we do

In Partnership With

Inspection, testing, installation and maintenance of hazardous area systems and equipment

The most effective way to establish the status of any equipment (electrical and non electrical) within hazardous areas is to carry out inspections for electrical assets in accordance with BS EN 60079.

F.E.S. (EX) can provide these inspection services using our team of competent personnel working with hand held terminals. This experienced team can even carry out ‘hands on’ rectification of non-conformance.

Although BS EN 60079 suggests periods in which the cycle of inspection should be carried out, there are no two plants the same and these periods should be site specific and based on the outcome of a Risk Assessment which must be justified and recorded.

We have helped develop and market a unique inspection and management system called ExTrace that meets the DSEAR legislative requirements and utilises hand held terminals and Auto ID technology.

Non-Electrical equipment in accordance with EN 13463 standard series and EN 1127

New non-electrical equipment for use in potentially explosive atmospheres must comply with the directives and regulations. Equipment in use prior to the introduction of the directives must be subject to a suitable risk assessment to establish its suitability regarding potentially effective ignition sources. Records of inspection results and maintenance activities should be kept as documentary evidence that equipment is suitable and fit for purpose.

F.E.S. (EX) can assist in completing an initial risk assessment focused on the potential sources of ignition as described within EN 1127-1 and carry out assessments in a manner that adopts the methodology as identified in EN 13463-1
